This tool provides the fastest way to layout all of the different elevations for multiple base layer paver projects. The elevation grooves are spaced to provide stringline measurements for each level of base as recommended by the ICPI. Simply, set the tools on any smooth elevation stakes at your exact paver finished paver level. The tool will now not need to be moved for the rest of the project!
For excavation level set stringline on top of tool and wrap around grade pin. Use a standard tape measure to check excavation depths. Now throw tape measure back in the toolbox! With stringlines between tools, use bottom sand gauge on tool to check gravel elevations and allow for 1" to 1.5" of sand as per ICPI specification. Then set stringline into groove to set screed bar pipes.
This tool is specifically designed to leave the pavers slightly high and allow for final compaction settlement back to top of the sleeve. When used with stringlines it will provide each individual material final elevation.
By simply moving your stringline you will have quick and repeatable visual representations of top of gravels, top of sand base and top of paver.
